Dalam saat pengoperasian komputer bila ada masalah biasanya komputer akan memberikan kode atau tampilan kepada kita. seperti halnya tanda bunyi

Arti tanda2 bunyi pada komputer antara lain :

A. Kode beep Award Bios

1. Bunyi beep 1 kali dan panjang ; Ada masalah di Memory, kemungkinan memory kendur, segera di kencangkan.
2. Bunyi beep 1 kali panjang dan 2 kali pendek ; Kerusakan di modul DRAM Parity memory, Ganti memorynya dengan yang baru.
3. Bunyi beep 1 kali panjang dan 3 kali pendek ; Ada masalah di VGA, periksa vga kemungkinan kendur, kalau sudah di kencangkan ternyata masih juga bunyi, segera ganti VGA Cardnya.
4. Bila Bunyi beep terus menerus ; ada kerusakan di modul memory atau memory video card; harus segera di ganti.

Kode Beep Ami Bios

• 1 kali beep pendek; DRAM gagal merefresh
• 2 kali beep pendek ; Sirkuit gagal mengecek keseimbangan DRAM Parity (sistem memori)
• 3 kali beep pendek ; BIOS gagal mengakses memori 64KB pertama.
• 4 kali beep pendek ; Timer pada sistem gagal bekerja
• 5 kali beep pendek ; Motherboard tidak dapat menjalankan prosessor
• 6 kali beep pendek ; Controller pada keyboard tidak dapat berjalan dengan baik
• 7 kali beep pendek ; Video Mode error
• 8 kali beep pendek ; Tes memori VGA gagal
• 9 kali beep pendek ; Checksum error ROM BIOS bermasalah
• 10 kali beep pendek ; CMOS shutdown read/write mengalami errror
• 11 kali beep pendek ; Chache memori error
• 1 kali beep panjang 3 kali beep pendek ;  Conventional/Extended memori rusak
• 1 kali beep panjang 8 kali beep pendek ; Tes tampilan gambar gagal

AMI Beep Codes
Beep Code Meaning
1 beep DRAM refresh failure. There is a problem in the system memory or the motherboard.
2 beeps Memory parity error. The parity circuit is not working properly.
3 beeps Base 64K RAM failure. There is a problem with the first 64K of system memory.
4 beeps System timer not operational. There is problem with the timer(s) that control functions on the motherboard.
5 beeps Processor failure. The system CPU has failed.
6 beeps Gate A20/keyboard controller failure. The keyboard IC controller has failed, preventing gate A20 from switching the processor to protect mode.
7 beeps Virtual mode exception error.
8 beeps Video memory error. The BIOS cannot write to the frame buffer memory on the video card.
9 beeps ROM checksum error. The BIOS ROM chip on the motherboard is likely faulty.
10 beeps CMOS checksum error. Something on the motherboard is causing an error when trying to interact with the CMOS.
11 beeps Bad cache memory. An error in the level 2 cache memory.
1 long beep, 2 short Failure in the video system.
1 long beep, 3 short A failure has been detected in memory above 64K.
1 long beep, 8 short Display test failure.
Continuous beeping A problem with the memory or video.

Phoenix Beep Codes
Phoenix menggunakan urutan beep untuk menandai masalah-masalah. Tanda “-” antar
nomer menandakan pause (sela) antar urutan beep. Contoh: 1-2-3 menandakan satu beep diikuti sela diikuti dua beep diikuti sela dan diikuti tiga beep. Phoenix sebelum versi 4.x menggunakan 3 kode beep, tapi mulai versi 4.x menggunakan 4 kode beep
